Hello!
Today I did my shopping for the meal we will be cooking on Sunday evening. The meal choice for the week will be Cheesy Potato Casserole, recipe donated by Ashly Johnston. The following is the prices for the individual items bought from Safeway in Kirkland, WA. Please note that due to neither my husband or myself enjoying celery, we omitted the celery and cream of celery soup.
Oreida Southern-Style Hash brown Potatoes - $3.50
One Jumbo Yellow Onion - $0.64
One Can Campbells Cream of Chicken and Mushroom Soup - $1.49
One 16oz Carton Lucerne Sour Cream - $2.70
One 16oz Bag Lucerne Shredded Medium Cheddar Cheese - $4.49
One Box Imperial Margarine - $0.79
One Box Corn Flakes - $2.99
Total: $16.60
I got a 16 oz bag of cheese just because I know that we will use the other half of it. I also replaced the cream of celery soup with the cream of chicken and mushroom soup. Also, because my husband works for Safeway, everything that we buy that is Lucerne or Safeway brand we get 10% off on.
I am very excited to cook this on Sunday. I am trying to think of a side dish to go with it as well.

Welcome to our Blog
Hello and thank you for stopping by today to visit our blog. For starters to explain how this cooking challenge came about. My sister Laura watched the movie Julie and Julia, it was then that she decided to teach herself how to cook, then a couple of months back she had the thought to do a cooking challenge for the new year. After talking to each other we decided that even though we live 1800 miles apart from each other it would be fun to do it together and see what the outcomes were. Then came the task of deciding what to do, after about a month of pondering what kind of recipes to do we decided that it would be fun to use recipes that our friends and family members suggested. We can see what everyone we love and care about enjoys while at the same time trying new recipes for our own families. Then began the Two Sisters 2011 Cooking Challenge!
Our first recipe will be made on January 2nd, 2011 so please stay posted. And if you would like to submit a recipe please email it to twosisterscooking.rl@gmail.com.
Here's wishing you a very happy holiday season and an amazing year in 2011!
